In this way the UIP hopes to reinvigorate the dialogue that was interrupted by a certain form of modernity between the scientific fact and value-based knowledge so as to gain a better understanding of the links between the implications of scientific research and the quest for meaning. For this reason, the UIP brings into contact scientists, philosophers, religious leaders and economists.
The Interdisciplinary University of Paris is an association registered under French law (loi 1901) since 1995. The board of directors is composed of the President of the Association, Jean Francois Lambert, the Vice President, Trinh Xuan Thuan and the General Secretary, Jean Staune.
The Association and its activities are funded by its members (1 250 in total), various subsidies from international foundations that seek to promote the dialogue between Science and Tradition, and the contributions of various companies that want to understand the mutations in society.
From its setting up, the UIP has organized 16 global seminars, having brought together an audience of more than 10 000 people and 150 guest lecturers, including 20 Nobel Laureates (see seminars and speakers).
Thanks to its global influence, the UIP has co-organized many events in collaboration with most prestigious partners (see partners).
Each year the UIP organizes courses and conferences and allows its students to graduate thanks to an original interdisciplinary degree – not acknowledged by the state (see courses and conferences section).
In addition, the UIP handles ñ partly or totally ñ global programs on themes connected to the philosophy of science (see the GPSS program on this website or the SSQ2 program on www.ssq.net).
The UIP frequently offers its students some innovative and original texts on the new scientific paradigms (see part of them on†the online library).
The UIP has a board of scientists at its disposal (including 4 Nobel Laureates and 8 members of the Academy of Science. See board of scientists), which contributes towards the protection of the quality and the general position of the association.
In just a few years, the UIP has become one of the main European structures developing, in a rigorous and audacious way, new concepts concerning the universe and humanity beginning at the beginning of 21st century.
